St Wenn School Dolphins
The Dolphin's class contains pupils from both Year 3 and Year 4 and is located on the ground floor between the Turtles class and the library. The class teacher is Mr. Beer, who has been at the school for 6 years and adores jokes, and the TAs are the lovely Mrs. Curtis and Mrs Messenger. We are all about learning in a fun, collaborative way and aim to develop children's independence as they make their two-year journey through years 3 and 4.
After the longest summer break in history, we are up and running being busy learning about our latest topic - Explorers: Where did they go? What did they find?
As you are all aware, some routines have changed whilst others, such as developing a love of learning and being part of a class and school community, have remained the same.
New for this year will be the use of learning platforms such as Showbie and Mirodo to help enhance the learning of the children whilst at the school as well as being used for home learning tasks.
PE will be on a Monday and Forest School will be on a Friday. Home learning will be 'given out' via Showbie on a Thursday with the return day being the following Wednesday. Spelling tests will take place on a Monday with a follow-up test on the Tuesday if required.
Reading at home (and also at school) will now be recorded using Showbie and should take place at least 5 times per week to help your child with their important decoding and reading comprehension skills. To help promote reading, each time your child reads at home - and it is recorded - they will receive a House Point as an incentive.
The Dolphins Team is looking forward to a great year ahead. Please email me if you have any questions regarding the learning taking place this year, or your child's well-being and development.
