St Wenn School Dolphins

The Dolphin's class contains pupils from both Year 3 and Year 4 and is located on the ground floor between the Turtles class and the library.

The class teachers are Mr. Beer, who has been at the school for 8 years and adores jokes, and Mrs Smith who brings a wealth of knowledge and ideas and will be teaching reading strategies on Tuesday mornings and topic on Monday afternoons. Our TAs are the lovely Mrs. Curtis and Mrs Messenger

Our class is all about learning in a fun, collaborative way and we aim to develop children's knowledge and independence as they make their two-year journey through years 3 and 4 and towards the dizzy heights of years 5 and 6!

I am looking forward to this summer term, especially as I have recently been made lead in PE at the school and because we have lots of exciting sporting opportunities planned for the children. This term we will also have our 3-day residential trip to Roadford Lake where the children will take part in exciting activities to help foster and develop their resilience, independence and teamwork.

In the Dolphins class our purpose remains the same: to understand that we often learn from mistakes, to develop a love of learning, and to be the best we can possibly be. To support the children's learning at home, we will continue to use the Showbie platform, both for homework and for spellings.

We are excited to reveal our new topic - Rivers and Coasts - and are looking forward to learning about many aspects related to this fascinating subject across the curriculum.

Reading

Please read at home with your child as much as possible (we recommend 5 times a week) and record this in your child's reading record. This is important to maintain as it will help your child with their important decoding and reading comprehension skills and ensure that a love of reading is maintained at home just as it is in school.

PE

Please ensure that you child has their PE kit (and a coat) in school throughout the week. This is because we enjoy being spontaneous and wish to take advantage of any good weather! Forest School will take place each Friday afternoon and school uniform will be optional for this day. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather conditions forecast.

Spellings and homework

These will be placed onto Showbie each Friday. Homework is expected to be completed by the following Thursday which will be the same day as the spelling test.

Please email or contact me via Showbie if you have any questions regarding the learning taking place, or to discuss your child's well-being and development.
