St Wenn School Dolphins
The Dolphin's class contains pupils from both Year 3 and Year 4 and is located on the ground floor between the Turtles class and the library.
The class teacher is Mr. Beer, who has been at the school for 6 years and adores jokes, and the TAs are the lovely Mrs. Curtis and Mrs Messenger.
We are all about learning in a fun, collaborative way and aim to develop children's independence as they make their two-year journey through years 3 and 4.
We are now happy to be back in school after experiencing the latest lockdown. Time has been spent before the Easter Holidays getting the children (and staff!) used to the daily routines, learning to learn again in a group context and finding out where the children are in terms of their learning.
Our purpose remains the same: to understand that we often learn from mistakes, to develop a love of learning, and to be the best we can possibly be. With adversity comes opportunity and we feel that we used our learning platform, Showbie, effectively and creatively to deliver the desired learning outcomes during lockdown. We will continue to use this platform both for home learning (spellings, recording reading progress and for homework) and in the school. I will also be introducing Mirodo - another brilliant online learning platform - in the summer term.
We are excited to reveal our new topic - Heroes: What does it take to become one? - and are looking forward to learning about many heroes both from the present and the past.
Please read at home with your child as much as possible (we recommend 5 times a week) and record this in the relevant reading folder on Showbie. This is important to maintain as it will help your child with their important decoding and reading comprehension skills and ensure that a love of reading is still in place when we return back to school later in the year.
Please email or contact me via Showbie if you have any questions regarding the learning taking place, or to discuss your child's well-being and development.
