St Wenn School Turtles

Welcome to the Turtles Class page.

A huge welcome to everyone in KS1. The children have settled very well into the new academic year.  The class is taught by Mrs Lush-Williams  with Mrs Ward ( Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons) Mrs Messenger  ( Thursday and Friday morning) and Miss Jones ( Monday and Wednesday).

Our new topic for the  Autumn  Term is "War" .  At Key Stage 1 we will be looking at the significant  historical figures of Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole and their contributions during the Crimean War.

We will  be using our online learning platform Showbie for spellings. Spellings are set on a Wednesday  on Showbie. In your child's folder you should find a copy of their spellings to learn ready for their test the following Tuesday.

Have a look at our class topic web to see what we will be learning in each subject.

As always we appreciate the consistent support from parents especially with reading.

"By reading to children, you provide them with a deep understanding about their world and fill their brains with background knowledge. They then use this acquired background knowledge to make sense of what they see, hear, and read, which aids their cognitive development."
