St Wenn School Turtles

Welcome to the Turtles Class page.

A huge welcome to everyone in KS1. The children have settled very well into the fist half of the Summer term and are enjoying our new topic.

'Heroes and Champions - What does it take.'

As part of the topic we will be looking at Significant people in History such as Florence Nightingale, Mary Seacole and Edith Cavell.

I am happy to still be using our online learning platform Showbie to complete tasks such as spellings and to record reading.

Spellings are set on a Thursday on Showbie. In your child's folder you should find a copy of their spellings to learn ready for their test the following Wednesday.

Have a look at our class topic web to see what we will be learning in each subject.

A main focus in Maths this term is Times tables. We have been practicing 2s, 5s and 10s.

Click below to hear the Turtles favourite song that is helping them learn their 5 times table:

As always we appreciate the consistent support from parents especially with reading.

"By reading to children, you provide them with a deep understanding about their world and fill their brains with background knowledge. They then use this acquired background knowledge to make sense of what they see, hear, and read, which aids their cognitive development."

Please upload any reading to our online reading record on Showbie.

Turtles staff are Miss Wheeler (Teacher)

Mrs Ward (Teaching Assistant).

Just a few reminders for parents:

Wednesday is Forest school

On this day children can wear their own appropriate clothing for outdoor learning

Friday is P.E

On this day children can wear their P.E kit to school.

Spellings will be given out on a Thursday and tested the following Wednesday.
